The Indigenous education advisor guides academic colleagues to identify opportunities and implement change related to decolonizing content and learning contexts and introducing Indigenous perspectives.
Russ Johnston (Sungilawakan) hails from Neyaashiinigmiing (Chippewas of Nawash unceded First Nation) via the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Anishinaabeg.
His background includes work in Indigenous community research, entrepreneurial consulting, sustainable economic development and cultural protocol education. Russ holds a Master of Arts in Indigenous Governance from the University of Victoria.
